Great Show

Been a long time coming... had a great time! I hope it's not another 8 years before UB40 comes back to the USA! I've been a fan for 30+ years, and I'm not that old! Astro, Ali ad the boys sounded wonderful... My 2 kids were brought up on UB40 and they are great fans as well. When my daughter was 3, we were playing "Guilty" on the record player and she thought that UB40 was singing to her (I have it on video). She heard the lyrics, "Well hello baby Come sit down, make your self comfortable Tell me something, how long have we known each other? About ten months huh? " She ran to the couch to sit down, thinking that she was being told to sit down. Hysterical!

Generally fine but not enough Wailers!!!

UB40 were fine. I didn't see the point of Big Mountain opening for 3 songs, then having to wait through another soundcheck, then Maxi Priest was only given 15 minutes, and then another soundcheck, and most disappointingly, the Wailers (who were a big part of the attraction of the show for us) were only given a few songs, another 15-20 minutes and then forced off the stage. And then a third soundcheck before UB40. I don't know if the scant time given to the Wailers was a venue issue or a UB40 issue but highly disappointing. All in all, a good night but could've been much better. As always, though, NJPAC is a tremendous venue in which to see a show.

Mostly great show!

UB40 was great! You won't be disappointed. Although this is the Biggabaggariddim tour, they actually only played one song from that album. Still an excellent show. Set changes were nice and quick. The other three acts suffered to various degrees from poor sound mixing. For the Wailers, Al Anderson is the featured player and you had to struggle to hear his guitar. Otherwise they were very good. Big Mountain was surprisingly good - I didn't really know anything about them other than their big early hit. Maxi Priest was shockingly bad. Not the sweet crooning you hear on his videos, just a bunch of shouting. And also the worst sound mix of them all - nothing but drum and bass. Use this short set as an opportunity to hit the restroom or grab a beer.
